Since the beginning of Rorelady, and even more so as we’ve expanded, we’ve been aware of the impact we can have on these key issues. Every day, we try to challenge and improve our ways of working. We are not perfect but we are constantly setting ourselves ambitious goals to do better, at our level. The road is long but here is already a first report of the actions we’ve put in place and of the ones to come. We'll update this page frequently to share the progress of our team and partners with transparency.
71% of the pieces from our Spring Summer collection of 2021 were produced from certified fabrics.
We have developed a close relationship with a family-owned factory, managed by women for 3 generations. It’s where our flowy little dresses & skirts (“flou”) are from as well as some pieces with sleeves. All of these factories were audited and we regularly go check on them.IN ROMANIA
Portugal is known for shoemaking and that’s why we produce most of our pairs of shoes there. It’s also where we produce our “second skin” jerseys.IN PORTUGAL
The country developed an authentic denim know-how: our jeans all come from there. We managed to produce our darkest washes with the ecowash method: it decreases water consumption by 95%, electricity by 40% and chemicals by 90%.IN TUNISIA
We produce our knitwear over there, from threading to weaving. Some of our accessories (shoes, belts, leather goods) are also made in Italy.IN ITALY
We produce in the country some of our flowy pieces as well as some with sleeves.IN SERBIA
We produced some of our lightest knits in an audited atelier.IN BULGARIA
We’re looking for a specific know-how, for embroideries or prints. Every time, we work with trusted ateliers, audited by independent organizations (100% of our Chinese ateliers for Spring Summer 2021 were externally audited).IN CHINA
Our cotton embroidered blouses that our summer collections are known for are from India. All of our Indian factories were audited and/or inspected by the Rorelady team.IN INDIA
Our espadrilles are made in Spain, in an atelier which has been known for its savoir-faire for generations. We also produce some of our leather goods and shoes over there.IN SPAIN
The right quantities
We try as much as possible to produce the right quantities. That’s why we answer our customers’ needs by restocking during the season so as to avoid overproducing. This choice requires a lot of flexibility, from our internal teams as well as from our partners but this is one of our strengths.
92% of ground transportation
We try to limit our environmental impact by encouraging road transportation. Today, 92% of our pieces are transported by ground which allows us to reduce our carbon footprint.
WE TRY AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE TO LIMIT OVERPRODUCTION BY PRODUCING THE RIGHT QUANTITIES
Upcycling and rehabilitation In 2021, Rorelady partnered with the ReCreators, a non-profit helping to rehabilitate women facing housing difficulties. In their Paris atelier, they create pieces using fabrics from past collections. A nice way to give a second life to these forgotten prints.
Our commitments for womenRorelady is also taking a stance for women. In 2020, a capsule collection was created from which all proceeds were donated to the Maison des Femmes. This donation helped to create a surgical unit, a break room and to offer alternative therapies to patients. In 2021, during the International Women’s Day, Rorelady was able to finance an entrepreneurship mentoring program for 30 women, thanks to the non-profit Empowher.
We’re aware that there’s still a lot to be done.
Here are the objectives we aim to reach by 2022:
